Itinerary: 10 nights & 11 days

Dagsprogram

Day 01: Guwahati

Arrival at Guwahati airport. Meet and assist by ZEITO representative and transfer to hotel. Assamese dinner.

Day 02: Guwahati – Day trip to Sualkuchi

Morning trip to Sualkuchi to explore the numerous weaving workshops in the town and see the whole process of silk manufacture.
Later visit Kamakhya temple, the goddess of desires, the Peacock Island, known to be one of the smallest inhabited river island of the world. Evening at leisure. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight.

Day 03: Guwahati – Shillong (105 km / 3 hrs approx)

Post breakfast drive to Barapani and check into a beautifully located resort, overlooking the spectacular Umiam Lake.

Overnight at Shillong hotel.

Later visit the Don Bosco center of Indigenous Culture (closed on Sunday and public holidays).

Visit to city centre for the local cuisine and shopping.

Day 04: Shillong – Day trip to Cherrapunjee (71 km / 3 hrs approx)

After breakfast drive to Cherrapunjee – one of the highest rainfall receiving area in the world. En route, stop at view points , visit Elephant falls.

On arrival visit Nohkalikai falls – one of the highest waterfalls in India to watch the sun setting behind the hills if the weather is suitable.

The next to visit, the Mawsmai Cave with their stalactites and stalagmites Return to Shillong by dusk. Overnight.

Day 05: Shillong – Kaziranga National Park (260 km / 8 hrs approx)

Kaziranga National Park, another World Heritage Site is home to the Great Five : Indian One-horned Rhinoceros, swamp deer, wild buffalo, elephants and the tiger.

It is a birding paradise with a check list of almost 500 species.

Day 06: Kaziranga National Park

Morning and afternoon game drive inside the park.

Day 07: Kaziranga National Park – Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary – Neamati Ghat

Early morning transfer to Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary (140 km / 3 ½ hrs) to look out for the Hoolock gibbon and other wildlife.

Later drive to Neamati Ghat and take the country boat to Majuli or overnight stay in Jorhat.

Day 08: Majuli

Dedicated country boat to take you across into the island (approx 1 ½ Hrs boat ride). Then a full day excursion by SUV with visit to the famous mask making monastery – Samaguri.

Also visit the monastery known for its monastic dance – Uttar Kamalabari Satra. Enjoy a dance, and interaction, with the monks.

Visit a typical tribal Mishing village. Evening transfer to the Kamalabari ferry point where your country boat will be waiting to take you back to a ferry.

Dinner and overnight on board or on island homestay.

Day 09: Neamati Ghat – Sivasagar – Dibrugarh

After breakfast, our country boat will transfer you to the Neemati Ghat ferry point, from where we drive to Sibsagar to visit the ancient monuments of the Tai Ahom era.

At Sibsagar visit Talatar Ghar and Rangh Ghar and check on an architecture of 600 years.

A visit to the Shiva Dol – a group of structures comprising three Hindu temples of Sivadol, Vishnudol and Devidol shrines.

Later continue drive towards Dibrugarh. On arrival check into a hotel.

Day 10: Dibrugarh – Day trip to Dibru Saikhowa National Park and Maguri Beel

Post breakfast transfer to Dibru Saikhowa National Park. On arrival we shall take a boat from the ferry point to sail down the river to see the river dolphins and also disembark in a certain point to walk inside the national park. Post lunch go to Maguri Beel to boat down the lake and see the different bird species.

Maguri Beel is a wetland near Dibru-Saikhowa NP. It is becoming a popular destinations for the birders around the globe for its rich avifaunal diversity. It’s a hub for the rare migratory ducks and the adjacent grassland is the home for many endangered grassland species.

Day 11: Dibrugarh fly out

After breakfast transfer to Dibrugarh airport to catch flight for onward journey.

  • Elephant safaris are subject to availability and permission granted by forest dept.
  • National Parks officially opens from 1st of November till April for visitors.
  • The driving duration mentioned in the itinerary is an average depending on the present road conditions. However one may stop enroute for visiting villages, markets, photography, major landmarks of importance and for comfort stops wherever possible.
  • Net connectivity lags in consistency in certain areas.
  • Due to unforeseen circumstances, we maintain the rights to alter the itinerary since tours are made in advance. However we will ensure a pleasant travel experience.
